AGAINST THE GRAIN: THE STORY OF THE STAMPEDERS

ROCK DOC FEATURE FILM

SYNOPSIS:

The Stampeders have been a household name since their rise to fame in the early 1970’s with their international #1 hit song “Sweet City Woman”. In 2021, the band is celebrating the 50th anniversary of that Canadian classic and their debut album “Against The Grain”. But their story goes deeper than rock stardom - The Stampeders’ story is one of a lasting friendship that formed the basis of one of Canada’s most beloved bands.

Their unique story is told through first-hand interviews with band members Rich Dodson, Kim Berly and Ronnie King and notable Canadian artists such as Nick Gilder, Ian Thomas and Bill Henderson. Together they take us back to a time when Canada was only beginning to have a musical identity. We catch vignettes of the past through rare archival footage of the The Stampeders during their heyday and trace their legacy to the present day on the road as they entertain the masses from Canada’s Maritimes to its Pacific coast.
